As part of the “greening” of Highland Park, the Green Community Plan was created through the joint efforts of the Green Community Working Group and NJSSI.
The Plan identifies the issues we care about in Highland Park, such as clean air and water, a safe and walkable downtown, and equal access for everybody in our community to recreational and educational opportunities.
How do we achieve a Green Highland Park?
The Green Highland Park initiative is made up of two parts, plans and actions.
The first part is the Green Community Plan, which defines what we mean by green and sustainable, and charts a course for the future.
The second part is actions. We cannot achieve our goals with only good intentions. It is through actions that we will see results. That is why we are starting now by asking Highland Park residents to take the Green Challenge! The actions we select together will be guided by the Green Community Plan, and guided by you.
Are we there yet?
A key part of the Green Community Plan is that we will have indicators to report on our progress. These indicators allow us, over time, to see where we are, where we are headed, and how effective our actions are in achieving a sustainable community.
